A boy suddenly appears in the village of Lent on the continent of Emerg. It was as if he had been transported from another world, and he has no memory of his past.
Just when he was on the verge of collapse, he was saved by the scholar Clemens. He began working for him.
Normally he is obedient and quiet, but he feels rage towards evil and faces trials with courage.
"You think adults just do whatever they want?"
Shizuma is the only person in this world who can transform the giant ancient weapon "Seele Tact" and fight with it.
Why is this possible?
Interactions with the Brigade, confrontations with the Imperial Army.
Tact will guide his destiny.
Shizuma suddenly appeared in the village one day.
Where did he come from? What was he doing before he arrived?
Not even Shizuma himself knew the answer. Clues were scarce and everything remained a mystery.
One year has passed since he lived in the eastern village of Lent.
"Of course I want to know why I’m here. But right now, my life in the village is important."
Shizuma's memories did not return.
It doesn’t bother him much, however. He becomes accustomed to life in Lent. As an assistant to the scholar, Clemens, who saved him—he learned the basics of ether manipulation while working on excavations and measurements.
Since he was accustomed to using a sword, he decided to start honing his swordsmanship. Clemens guessed that he probably used a sword on a daily basis in his previous world.
One day, a merchant from the world traveling Excavation Brigade, visited the village.
"You're all traveling together? Across this vast continent… There’s all sorts of people out there. Tell me your stories."
Shizuma deepened his friendship with the merchants of the Excavation Brigade—including a girl, Fené.
Shizuma began to wonder where he had come from and where he was going.
The Brigade was about to head off to the next commercial district, but then...a mysterious force appeared, raising dust clouds and shaking the ground with their advance.
The force, using modern weapons, was the elite unit of the Imperial Army, Crimson Spear.
The Brigade's merchants are quickly injured by Crimson Spear’s fierce attack, and the villagers of Lent are drawn into the battle.
The Crimson Knight, Gustav, confronts the Brigade Commander.
“Where did you hide Seele Tact…? Hand it over.”
The Brigade Commander shakes his head and refuses Gustav's command with fear in his eyes.
"In that case, I will show no mercy. Burn it down."
Gustav commands his men, and they begin to set fire to the village.
“Just because you're a soldier—just because you have power! You harass people and make them suffer—you think adults can just do whatever they want!?"
Shizuma and Fené, serving as the Brigade's guard, confront the tyranny of the Imperial soldiers. But Gustav lands a powerful blow.
The Brigade’s large cargo begins to glow. So large it was almost towering over the horizon, the cargo emitted an ethereal light and transformed into a longsword.
“That glow… That’s Seele Tact…!”
The object of Gustav’s desire had appeared before him in an unexpected way.
Shizuma grips Seele Tact as if it was natural—as if it was destined for him.
Gustav and the Imperial Army were forced to retreat in the face of the incredible power of the Shizuma’s Tact. With the help of the Brigade, peace was once again returning to the village of Lent.
However, with Seele Tact in his hands, Shizuma is overwhelmed with emotions he has never felt before.
"It may be selfish, but... I want to see life outside the village. I want to see the outside world!"
Clemens speaks to Shizuma as if he has already given up, "I suppose it's time to leave then, Shizuma...but I'll accompany you. I'm sure my knowledge will be useful."
When the two learn that the Brigade's next destination is Blue Country, they decide to travel with them.
Blue Country is a fortified city that protects ancient legends. Clemens thought that there must be a clue to solving the mystery of Seele Tact, awakened in response to Shizuma, and the mystery of Shizuma himself.
On the way to Blue Country, there is a vast desert. To navigate the desert with no signposts, they need a guide. There, the Brigade meets a hunter named Dís, who they ask to guide them through the desert.
And so, Shizuma and his friends set off across the vast desert, heading for Blue Country.
While crossing the desert, Dís reveals her true nature—the Imperial Army had commissioned her to steal Seele Tact. She makes off with Tact and flees.
However, Shizuma and his friends quickly found Dís and successfully retrieved Tact, but. Dís vanished…
And finally, Shizuma and his friends reach the Blue Country.
However, what the Brigade saw before them was a city that had been ravaged by the Imperial Army—robbed of its beauty. The precious underground ruins were a shadow of their former selves.
When they reach a part of the castle barely touched by the flames of war, they come across Glenn—the prince of Blue Country. Many of his people and relatives had lost their lives.
Glenn stood before the city burned by the flames of war, desperately trying to hold back his tears of frustration.
“If only… I had been stronger… this wouldn’t have happened…”
Then, a monstrous creature appeared from the shadows of the ancient ruins, emitting a low growl.
“That’s… The Blue Reaper.”
The "Blue Reaper" was originally sealed deep underground and existed to protect the country.
However, that god had awakened as if in response to the blood of the country's soldiers—now filled with rage, viewing Glenn, Shizuma, and the others… as enemies.
“Do we have to fight…?”
The wordless Reaper points his blade towards Shizuma and the others.
A confrontation with the Reaper—awakened by bloodshed. It was like battling the resentment of those who should have been protected.
“There’s no meaning to a battle like this… Why…?”
After a fierce battle, Shizuma mangages to fend off the Blue Reaper with Seele Tact.
Glenn feels responsible for the Reaper’s appearance and disappears. As Shizuma and the rest of the Brigade search for Glenn inside the ruins of the castle, they accidentally discover a door to the subterranean ruins.
The group decides to proceed underground, where they find a giant Machine God's cocoon sleeping deep inside.
It was one of the ancient weapons the Empire was searching for.
The Imperial Technocrat Iseria had been ordered to find the cocoon that lay in Blue Country, and she had led a large army to the citadel ruins in an attempt to secure it.
Immediately after finishing their battle with the Blue Reaper, the Brigade, Shizuma, and the few surviving members of Blue Country face off against the Imperial Army led by Iseria…
Meanwhile, Glenn, who had disappeared, meets Dís as she is pursuing the Brigade.
Dís notices Glenn’s music gun—passed down since ancient times to the royal family of Blue Country. Dís creates an opportunity for Glenn to awaken to the music gun’s art.
After awakening, Genn and Dís team up with Shizuma and the others facing off against the Imperial Army.
With the help of the technique of Glenn's music gun, Shizuma and his friends fight Iseria on an equal footing. However, during the battle, a strong resonant sound began to emit from Seele Tact in Shizuma's hand.
The vibration seems to resonate with the Machine God’s cocoon.
Concerto Veiss—
The glow and resonance transform Shizuma and Tact to even more powerful forms. And then, they cut through the fierce assault of the Empire's new weapon… However, even after the Empire was defeated, the resonance did not stop, and eventually Tact began to rampage regardless of Shizuma's will—until it finally transformed into a giant crystal and stopped moving.
The Imperial Army, on the verge of annihilation, took advantage of the opening to retreat with the Machine God’s cocoon in tow.
Shizuma doesn’t understand why Seele Tact would suddenly reject him. It had been his emotional support.
"If we go to Sanctuary, we might learn something," Clemens muttered, looking at the giant crystal that was now Seele Tact.
The group decides to head to the edge of the continental world, Sanctuary, in order to restore Seele Tact.
At the edge of the continental world lies Sanctuary. There, the sea connects with the heavens and is filled with a high concentration of ether.
The Brigade arrives at Mythos, and with Glenn's help, they are granted an audience with Saint Lumiera.
According to Lumiera, the reason Tact has stopped responding to Shizuma's calls is because the flow of ether has become distorted due to resonance with the Machine God's cocoon.
In order to regain control of Tact, Shizuma takes on the challenge of the "White Trial," a knight training method passed down in Sanctuary.
Glenn, also worried about the dangers of awakening the Machine God that the Empire made off with, asks Lumiera for her assistance in resealing it.
Lumiera herself readily agrees, but the Saint's attendant, Alma, strongly opposes the idea, saying that the Saint cannot be allowed to head out into the outside world.
Glenn tries to persuade Alma, but Alma, being an excelling White Knight, demands that they settle the matter with a sword fight with the Brigade representative.
Then, having overcome the rigors of his ordeal, Shizuma returns—clutching the Seele Tact in his hands once again.
The battle with Alma begins in a coliseum in the sky…
Shizuma was able to defeat Alma using the new Seele Tact.
With Lumiera's participation in the Brigade approved, Shizuma and his group set off again.
Their next destination is the new capital of the Empire—to recover the stolen Machine God.
However, as soon as they left the church, they were attacked by the Imperial Army led by Iseria, a high ranking technocrat turned Crimson Mage.
The group is caught off guard by the sudden attack, but with the help of Shizuma and his new power— as well as the strong barrier created by Lumiera, they manage to break through the pursuit of Iseria's troops.
As they pushed their way to the capital, they looked at the remains of Iseria's troops and saw the dimensional gate that Iseria's troops had used to travel from the capital to Sanctuary.
“If we jump in here, we'll fly straight to the capital of the Empire."
Lumiera was also knowledgeable about the Empire's latest technology, which used ancient techniques.
Shizuma and his party decide to jump into the giant open mouth of the dimensional gate. They are finally headed to the capital, the headquarters of the Empire.
“Let’s go!”
Shizuma and his group make up their minds and jump into the dimensional gate. There, the Imperial Army led by Gustav is waiting for them…
After a fierce battle, Gustav’s men and Shizuma's party came to a draw and called a ceasefire at dusk. At night, the Brigade temporarily left the capital to allow the wounded to recover and set up camp.
"Why do you fight so hard, Shizuma?" Fené asked.
The Brigade was by no means a fighting group, but the people who had gathered there had come to think of it as a fight to liberate themselves from the tyranny of the Imperial Army.
Although they had different motives, now they were all united for a purpose.
"Honestly, at first, I was fighting for myself... to find myself, not knowing where I came from. But fighting the Imperial Army, and going on adventures like this with everyone... now I've finally started to feel that I want to fight not for myself, but for everyone—to get everyone a place to return to..."
That was Shizuma’s answer.
However, early in the morning, Imperial soldiers called upon the Brigade for help.
It seemed that Gustav had suddenly started a rebellion against the Imperial Army.
Why would someone like him, who is a perfect example of loyalty, do such a thing?
When the Brigade and Shizuma rushed to the capital, an unbelievable sight unfolded before them.
Gustav's and Iseria's troops were glaring at each other through the smoke of a fierce battle.
But that wasn't all. Between them, the Machine God was about to awaken from its cocoon…
Gustav's efforts were in vain, and Iseria managed to awaken the Machine God "Thor" and break it from its cocoon.
The Empire was planning to use the powerful energy that Thor possessed—but Thor was beyond the control of humans…
Thor burns down the capital with a surge of power.
Shizuma's group and Gustav's unit joined together and confronted the giant armored Machine God.
“Just as I thought, it’s come to this… It’s a monster, isn’t it?”
Gustav had predicted this. He had worked hard to serve the Empire, and that's why he wanted to avoid the worst case scenario.
"No, Seele Tact is saying… The Empire's evil will has turned the Machine God into that form... Only we can stop it!"
Shizuma and Gustav began their final battle with Thor. They corner Thor—covered in armor. However…
Just as it seemed Thor would decay along with his armor, another form appeared from within, wrapped in crimson.
Its appearance and power are beyond human comprehension, and in the end, even with the help of Iseria's troops, Glenn's music gun, and Fené, it cannot be stopped.
While everyone else had fallen... Shizuma, just barely protected by Seele Tact, approached Thor alone and half conscious.
Shizuma faced Thor.
And, as if driven by something, quietly…
He swung Seele tact.
The Machine God Thor and Seele Tact intersect like a sword dance.
The released ether shines.
Seele Tact is expressing Shizuma's feelings...
Not asking, not refusing, not fighting...
He just wants to speak. It's a dialogue with God...
