- ABOUT THIS LABEL -

Launched as a Label to openly celebrate themes uncommon in rhythm games such as "live" music and fighting games, Genesis of Destiny (or G.O.D) tells the stories of characters in various worlds where superpowered musicians are called into purgatory to fight against a malevolent god. It's a "battle of the bands" with a massive scale, and massive stakes.

We recommend this Label if you enjoy the niche interests it presents, and if you like emotional character stories intermingled with epic battles.

- (META) INFORMATION -

While Genesis of Destiny has an overarching story-line, many of its stories are self-contained one-shots or are only loosely connected to the main story. Most stories can be enjoyed independently, but others are best read with additional context. These key stories will be highlighted below, and we recommend reading them in order, much like other novel-format Labels. At minimum, reading G.O.D and Trismegistus' stories is recommended as context for many side stories.

Genesis Of Destiny's music is comprised of "live" band music with real instruments, and for a lot of the earlier entries, Touhou arrangement artists.

The Label's general aesthetics are that of fighting games--with their CD booklets even assigning characters fake move-sets and attack names. There's even some special characters like Patriot, whose stories are love letters to the game genre.

Alongside that, all characters in this Label are musicians in one way or another, and are depicted as such. Some characters are overt references to real-life musicians, such as Johnny Syasteen and Yngwie Malmsteen.

Characters are categorized by both game version and soundtrack release. Since Label-specific soundtracks have not been released for Genesis Of Destiny since CHUNITHM PARADISE, there are no specific category names after that version.

Since Genesis Of Destiny is lower on our translation priorities, and fully translating every character is out of our scope, expect updates to be infrequent.
